I have installed just about every part of the Ubitquiti UniFi line. This gateway is left over from a project. I planned to use this in a small office but the network equipment is in the same room with the employees. While I wouldn't call it loud, the fans do make a fair amount of high pitched noise. This is an enterprise, rack mount unit so it's not fair to expect it to be silent but out of the box it made more noise than I comfortable with in that situation.

I ended up installing the non-pro version of the UniFi gateway while I researched the fans. The fans are regular 3 wire computer fans and very easy to access so I swapped them out for a pair of Noctua ones. While not silent, the fan noise is much quieter and a lot less high pitched. I would feel comfortable installing this around people now. The non-pro was working out fine so I never bothered to go back and install this one.
